There are fewer women in automotive careers, what is the cause?


A recent study by
Deloitte revealed that 65% of women are reluctant to enter the automotive industry because of negative perceptions about the workplace and 39% of women worry about opportunities for career progression.

How many female mechanics are there in the US?

The Bureau of Labor Statistics found that there are 19,236 female auto mechanics (2.1% of all auto mechanics) in the United States. In contrast, there were only 12,000 female auto mechanics out of in 1999. Therefore, the number of women entering the field has increased over the years.

Why Should Women Consider a Career in Automotive?

The opportunity for women is abundant in this industry. Women tend to possess communication skills that help build trust and relationships with customers, allowing them to succeed in any role within the profession.
